Happy 2013 - sorry it's over a month late! Since I last blogged I have spent three months with the team at Art Cottage, developing designs for their 'Artisan' hand-made range and setting up a successful plotter cutting facility. The design team were great, very lovely and talented and I really enjoyed my time in the studio. Following this I have been working as an Interior Design Advisor and Showroom Assistant at Susie Watson Designs.
With Christmas recently and Valentine's in a few days, I have revisited my card designs and started developing them - what do you think?
London Design Week was amazing and I had a great time showing at Tent. Very long days standing up though... I must invest in a chair if I exhibit there next year! My work was well received and it is always nice to hear people saying lovely things about my work! I have also been lucky enough to have my work on the House and Garden blog... take a look!
Sorry for the delay in posting, the last few weeks/month have been crazy!! At the beginning of September I visited Graham and Brown in Blackburn and worked with their design team. It was a really interesting experience and I was lucky enough to have a tour of their factory and see just how many people and machines it takes to make a piece of wallpaper! The answer is.. alot! Whilst I was up there they also viewed my portfolio and actually bought one of my lace wallpaper designs which is very exciting. Watch this space for my first wallpaper design being put into production, it's crazy to think people will actually be able to decorate their homes with something I've designed!
This week I have been in Leicester at a studio called Art Cottage, where I am setting up a plotter cutting facility. It's all very exciting stuff and it has been great to work with such a lovely and extremely talented team.
Finally next week I will be exhibiting at Tent and if anyone is in the London area, please come and see me! I'll be on the Art BathSpa Stand - E14.
New Designers came and passed at the beginning of July and was very successful for all of the Bath School of Art and Design - both Textiles and Ceramics. The stands looked great and really stood out! I had a wonderful time and was very lucky to be awarded the prestigious Graham and Brown award for my lace wallpaper design. I won £1,000 and a placement at their studio which I have just arranged to complete at the beginning of September. Their designs are lovely and I'm really looking forward to visiting the studio, there is even a chance they may select one of my designs whilst I'm there for a future collection, so very exciting stuff!
Some other exciting news is that I have just found out that I have been selected to exhibit at Tent, London this September! I'm really excited and honored to be selected and am looking forward to producing some new work before the show... I will keep you updated!
The show is now up and has been open to the public for the last week, the whole Textile department looks amazing and we had a very very busy and successful private view last Friday! It's now almost time to take it down before transporting it all to London for New Designers which is on from the 29th June to the 2nd July and which i'm very excited about! Here are a few images from my show...
