New Designers and beyond!

New Designers came and passed at the beginning of July and was very successful for all of the Bath School of Art and Design - both Textiles and Ceramics. The stands looked great and really stood out! I had a wonderful time and was very lucky to be awarded the prestigious Graham and Brown award for my lace wallpaper design. I won £1,000 and a placement at their studio which I have just arranged to complete at the beginning of September.  Their designs are lovely and I'm really looking forward to visiting the studio, there is even a chance they may select one of my designs whilst I'm there for a future collection, so very exciting stuff! 

Some other exciting news is that I have just found out that I have been selected to exhibit at Tent, London this September! I'm really excited and honored to be selected and am looking forward to producing some new work before the show... I will keep you updated!

Show Time!

The show is now up and has been open to the public for the last week, the whole Textile department looks amazing and we had a very very busy and successful private view last Friday! It's now almost time to take it down before transporting it all to London for New Designers which is on from the 29th June to the 2nd July and which i'm very excited about! LACE LACE LACE!!

Today I went to the Fashion Museum in Bath and viewed their collection of lace, it was beautiful and has really inspired me... time to do some drawing! Here are a few photo's I took whilst I was there...

A 'New Lace'...

Some photo's of my samples/ideas from this personal project. Designs are either laser cut or are flocking which I have had cut on the plotter cutter and then transfered onto different surfaces including fabric and glass using the heat press. I love the intricacy and delicate feel and the look of them when they are held up to the light or a window and the white flock appears almost black and they become more transparent. I hope to develop these ideas further for my final degree show and produce large scale pieces...
